Make My Playlist Giveaway

My husband and I celebrated our 11th anniversary this month, and, as a special gift, he made me a mix CD.  It was one of the best gifts I’ve received in a long time-thoughtful, inexpensive and fun!  I dusted off my CD player and cranked up the speakers and loved every minute of listening to the music.  I think the best part was not knowing what song would come next and being surprised or laughing out loud at some of his choices.  I have an eclectic musical taste.  I love pop music, classic rock, 90s bands, country, rap, etc.  I love music that inspires me to get running, to fight through a tough workout or to simply get through a tough day.  My last half-marathon playlist included songs ranging from Eminem to Adele, from Rage Against the Machine to Florence & The Machine.  The variety keeps me entertained and each song can offer a different reason to keep going.

So here’s my first giveaway plan!  You can win a $20 Itunes gift card to help make your own exercise playlist by entering with these simple actions:

1.  Leave a comment below with your favorite running/exercise song.  I need new music suggestions and may add your song to my marathon playlist!  Feel free to share why it’s a must-have!

2.  Follow me on Twitter @Go_Run_Jess and leave a comment below letting me know you did!

3.  Tweet about the giveaway.  Something like:  I want to win the Make My Playlist Giveaway from @Go_Run_Jess  Twitter users can get an extra entry each day for tweeting!  (Just stop back and leave a comment each time you tweet!)

4.  Subscribe to receive Go Run Jess blog posts in your inbox or feed reader and leave me a comment letting me know you did!

You have until Thursday, April 11th at 11:59pm to enter.  On Friday, April 12th I will choose a winner using and will announce the winner’s name on my blog.  Please remember to leave a separate comment for each entry-good luck and happy running!

I have a lot of the same music on my mp3 player, but I plan on getting some new stuff for the marathon. My new fave is Kiss You by One Direction. A little teenybopper, I know, but the song is so damn catchy!

Steph-Phil put that song on my anniversary CD! It was hilarious when it started playing. It is super catchy. I love pop music! It gets me going, which is all that counts!

Some of my favorite running tunes are: Daylight by Matt & Kim, Flathead and Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis, Salute Your Salution by the Raconteurs, Blue Orchid by the White Stripes, I’m Shakin’ by Jack White, Womanizer by Britney Spears, Pon de Replay by Rhianna, Clint Eastwood (Ed Case /Sweetie Remix) by the Gorillaz… I could go on and on… I love music when I run. Beautiful People by BEP and Macy Gray is a great warm up song!

I hope you do a list of all your running tunes when you are done because I’m always looking for new songs to add to my running playlist. That day I asked on Twitter, you were the only one who replied! LOL!

I listened to “My Body” by Young The Giant during every training run for my marathon. It kept me going even while my body was protesting due to injury.

Hi Jessica, this is Jen from book club. I have been following your blog and just added you to my Google reader! No Twitter or Facebook for me. Making running playlists is one of my favorite things, especially for the long runs. I too love anything 90s and pop. Right now my favorite song is “Titanium” by David Guetta. It’s a great theme song.

My favorite running\exercise song is Kanye West’s “Mercy”. The first two verses of the song are just OK, but the beat really kicks up on Kanye’s verse and it makes me run like the ring. Before the race, I try to plan out my playlist so that this song will come on during the end of my last mile.

    • gorunjess April 11, 2013 / 7:33 am

I have several of West’s songs on my list! Love “Amazing” from 808s & Heartbreak!

I just spent 3 hours making a new playlist last week. I like fast, silly songs – like You Look Better When I’m Drunk.
