Before beginning my weight loss and running journey, I worked a sedentary job and used food as a coping mechanism to deal with the stress in my life. I did not exercise regularly and did not make my health a priority in any way. My weight at it’s highest was just over 200 pounds. I have since maintained a 55 pound weight loss with the help of running and exercise and now focus less on the scale and more on my health. In the spring of 2008, I completed the Couch to 5K program and ran my first race and was hooked. I am not a physical fitness expert, nor a nutrition guru, but I focus on strength training, running and eating well to stay healthy. Thanks for reading-and happy running!

Wow you look awesome! It’s so nice when you can find something you really enjoy and go with it. I’m pretty sure that’s what I need to do – find something I enjoy and that motivates me to keep going.
Good for you for making this change in your life!! I’ve been an avid runner for about 15 years now…as I’m sure you know, once it becomes a part of you, there’s just no turning back!!
Wow, way to go! I have my first 5k on Sunday, I actually only got into running after losing 55lbs but now I am hooked too.
Love your shorter hair, so flattering! Congratulations on the progress you have made, very VERY inspirational.
